It's a masterpiece just like the original Four and a Half Tatami anime. It, like the original anime, contains some kind of philosophical idea, romance, madness and absurdity, and all this is combined in such an atmosphere of ease. This anime, like FLCL or The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, has that summer vibe (that's what it's called, summer blues), but it expresses it very well.
As someone who has watched Tatami Galaxy, it seems to me that despite the fact that it is related to it, it can position itself as a separate story and to watch this work you don’t even need to watch the original anime.
I would like to highlight their sensei separately. For me, he is the wisest and one of the coolest characters in anime. His calm attitude towards everything and reasonableness really make me admire him, he is an ideal.
I recommend watching both this ONA and the full anime Tatami Galaxy, and it's cooler to watch something like this in the summer heat, so yes, WATCH THIS!
Oh, I just realized it's a parody of that movie. I think I've seen it too, but I don't know. Watch that one too, it's pretty good. (Summer Time Machine Blues) I didn't finish watching it because it seemed to have a lot of stupid Japanese humor and I couldn't digest it.
